Preliminary Examination

No. of Questions – 125, M.M. 500, Time 2 hrs.

Indian Penal Code, Criminal Procedure Code, Code of Civil Procedure, Punjab Courts Act, Indian Contract Act, Indian Partnership Act, Sale of Goods Act, Specific Relief Act, Transfer of Property Act, 1882, East Punjab Urban Rent Restriction Act, 1949, Indian Evidence Act, Family Law, and Customary Law, Law of Registration and Limitation, Current events of national and international importance, Indian legal and constitutional history and governance. Analytical skills and aptitude.

Mains Examination

Notes:

(a) Only bare copies of Legislative Enactments will be supplied.

(b) Each written paper shall be of three hours duration. Papers | to III shall carry 200 marks each. Papers IV and V shall carry 50 marks each and in each of these papers 100 marks shall be for essay writing and 50 marks for general language and grammar. Paper VI shall carry 100 marks.

(c) The Viva-Voce shall relate to matters of general interest and is intended to test the candidates alertness, intelligence and general outlook. Consideration shall be paid to the bearing of the candidates. It shall be conducted in English.

No candidate shall be credited with any marks in any paper unless he obtains atleast thirty three percent marks in it.

No candidate shall be called for the Viva-Voce test unless he obtains atleast fifty percent qualifying marks in the aggregate of all the written papers. Provided that the candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes of Pb./Scheduled Tribes of Punjab and Backward Classes of Pb. Categories shall be called for the Viva-Voce test if they obtain forty-five percent qualifying marks in the aggregate of all written papers.
